Many of our members are wonderfully active.

You move well, you stretch, you care for your body and you prioritise your health. That already places you ahead of most people.

But there is one change that quietly begins for all of us — loss of muscle strength.

After about age 30 we begin losing muscle mass gradually. By our 50’s, without strength training, we will have lost 10% of our muscle mass. By our 70’s it’s a whopping 40% lost muscle.

While at the same time our bones slowly become less dense. Even women who are active and healthy can develop osteopenia without realising it.

The good news?

Our bodies respond incredibly well to strength training at any age.

Strength work helps:

  • build stronger bones
  • improve grip strength (have you noticed changes in how you open jars and carry groceries?)
  • correct slips and wobbles so falls are less likely
  • And it’s the positive CHANGES ON THE INSIDE that I am really excited about for you; The way strength training improves your body composition.
What does that mean exactly?

Strength training will:

  • improve blood pressure and cardiovascular health
  • support metabolism and blood sugar control
  • reduce harmful visceral fat around organs
  • improve gut health
  • support brain health and cognitive function
  • increase confidence in how your body moves

That’s a TRULY IMPRESSIVE LIST, isn’t it?

In other words, strength training supports the body systems that allow us to live well and independently for decades to come.

This is why we are introducing our new Transform Strength Classes.

Because what we build in our 40s to 60s determines how independently we move in our 80s.

Our Transform Strength classes are designed by an expert exercise physiologist and physio, for real women — not gym junkies — and they will complement the yoga and Pilates many of you already love. I promise you will find our studio a supportive place to start strength training.
