I have been promising this recipe to many of you so here it is! This is a fantastic dairy free and (almost) sugar free dessert that is so rich and filling it is totally fulfilling! But what I love about it the most is that it freezes beautifully so I make up batches and freeze. If a sweet crazing hits, I just pop out a pod and I am smiling! For dinner parties I will always use raw cacao but because I avoid caffeine I tend to use carob powder instead, starting with two tablespoons and adding to taste.  It works really well too. This recipe will serve 4.

What you will need:

  • Two avocados
  • ½ very small banana (too much and it becomes a banana dessert, which isn’t a bad thing, it just won’t wow your friends so much as a chocolate mousse)
  • 4-10 Tbsp cacao powder
  • 3 tsp honey (or up to 6 tsp)
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 4 tsp coconut oil
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • Pinch sea salt
  • 1-2 tsp water.

Blend all the ingredients in a food processor or electric chopping bowl. Serve in quenelles or freeze. A nice freezing option is to layer it up with pureed berries. Add a squeeze of lemon juice to the berries. If you just can’t wait to defrost (say, at PMT time, then half defrosted it becomes a semifreddo – Yum! Enjoy!
