If you are having a mother’s day gathering these are a healthy hit. They will be demolished by grown ups and kids alike. Kale shines nutritionally: High in fibre, iron, potassium and Vit A and for a vegetable, not bad in protein. This has to be the best way to consume all the goodness that’s in a bunch of kale. (Alas, they seem so absorb humidity so they won’t keep for lunchboxes.)

Yesterday I had an interesting conversation with a new friend to our studio. She had visited us three times for Pilates and been working at a level 1 in class so that we could take care of some physical conditions. (It’s a little journey to figure out what works and what might not work for our visitors. Starting from the top down
Many of you will have heard of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. The one where first come food, water and shelter. Then safety follows – that sense of home. And as you can see on this image, we then need love and belonging, esteem, and the icing on the cake is to aim for self-actualisation.

Overwhelm for Christmas, Anyone?
Back in October I heard a wonderful thing on the radio. The caller told listeners about how the first two letters of November are N and O – as in ‘NO’ – November was the month to say ‘no’ to everything so you don’t end up feeling too overloaded during December. Let Them Eat Cake
It’s my mum’s birthday this week. But since she has passed away it sadly marks another year without her. But because of this it feels like the perfect week to be hosting a wonderful event to bring motherless women together in the positive spirit of yoga to enjoy class, cuppa and cake. Just as I aim for each yoga practice I teach to be a celebration for my students of their body, mind and spirit, Transform is proud to host a special Sunday afternoon yoga class for women to connect with each other and to recognise and celebrate their own journeys onward since losing their mothers.
While grief and sadness come in different flavours, and while the textures vary though the years, motherless daughters can ‘get’ each other though this instantly deep connection so we’ll have tea and cake and conversation afterwards.

The Power of Doing Less
We had a great family holiday in July and in an attempt to hold on to that lazy hazy holiday feeling, I have been trying to do a little less since I got back. It means turning down a few things, which goes against my default. I find saying no to things hard to do, especially when some of those things are fun and others I know will stretch me in a good way.
