Is this you?

Feeling tired from another full year?

As our life reopened, did you somehow lose the reins a bit and let too many things in? There’s added logistics to think about, work projects to finish and family to plan for.

It’s a tricky balance isn’t it? The line we walk between being that positive person who brightly says yes to lots of possibilities, and that person with a full life that is squashing out those times of quiet connection with the self. Those small moments that top us up and keep us powering. These times are vital to our wellbeing.

If you feel yourself pulled in multiple directions at once. Your nervous system is bound to be jangly. Even if they are all good and exciting things, your body will recognise being overly busy as stress and shift you into your adrenaline mode which will takes us further away from feeling relaxed, calm, and settled.

During December particularly,

  • It’s ok to say No
  • It’s great to ask for help
  • It’s essential to pause. A moment to breathe in nature. Permission to go slow. Achieve less and not feel guilty about it.
  • It’s delicious to come to Yin Yoga. A whole hour of space to breathe and feel is a powerful top up. (Wednesdays, Fridays, Sundays with live stream options too)  Remember, deep relaxation = deep healing.

I can offer you a short practice which helps connect with your Atma, your divine pure self.

It will peel off those unhelpful outer layers and labels and refresh your connection with your true priorities and authenticity. See below…😊

Taste Atma. Meditation on Authenticity

Get still. Close your eyes and follow your breathing for a bit.
Next consider what you experience as your main ‘skin’. Is it the label of father or mother, sister, husband, boss, friend, son or daughter, or maybe your most defining role is a job title? Anything goes. Pick the one which feels most obvious (or dare I say it, most oppressive) and sense into it.

Taste this skin. It will have a certain texture to it. Experience what it’s like wearing this skin for a short time.

Next, imagine unzipping this skin, and stepping out of it. Underneath is a fresher ‘you’. A more authentic being, closer to the real you. Relax into this.

If it feels good to stay here, appreciating a new freedom, stay. If you like to repeat this practice with one or more other labels, then do so. Sense into each one. Each will have a different flavour and various degrees of palatability. Then unzip it or peel it off. Find out what’s underneath.

You can do this with as many layers as you like. Until you come to something which feels close to you, divine luscious you. Touch the pure, authentic you. The you that the world deserves to see. That authentic centre that, when you move from it, allows everything to flow beautifully.

Happy lead up to the holidays everyone!
