Yin Yoga is a practice that focuses on opening and energising the pathways of the body. This nurturing style of yoga is taught in a very gentle, calming and restorative way that literally helps to restore balance and harmony in your body and mind. This is achieved through holding various asanas for extended periods of time and targeting the deepest tissues of our bodies, our connective tissues. The Yin style of yoga works on the ligaments, joints, bones, and deep fascia networks of the body, and compliments your conventional hatha yoga practice which is focused primarily on our muscles.
By combining the Yin asanas with deep, focused breathing we are better equipped to tune in and listen to our bodies, encouraging us to surrender to our feelings rather than trying to suppress or control them.
In this 2 hour workshop with Petra we will explore a little theory on the general principals of Yin Yoga and its effect on the deeper tissues of the body as well as, its effect on your mental and emotional health.
We will also enjoy a full 75 minute Yin practice exploring the poses, stretching and revitalising the deeper connective tissue, liberate the body’s chronic holding patterns, relieve pain and help you to recapture some of the ease and freedom of movement you used to have as a child.
Through this practice you will learn to stimulate your meridians or energy pathways of the body, restore youthful joint mobility as you quietly activate and reconnect with your prana or life force.
All levels welcome.
