When people hear the words strength training, they often imagine intense gyms, heavy barbells and feeling completely out of their depth.

That is not what Transform Strength classes, launching next week (!!) are.

These sessions are designed especially for women who may never have lifted heavier resistance before.

Everything is guided, supportive and progressive. (Our Transform Strength classes are designed by an exercise physiologist especially for women who have mostly done yoga or Pilates before.)

Every class follows a simple structure:

1. Mobility Warm Up
We begin by preparing the joints and muscles so the body moves freely and safely.

2. Strength Work
We complete 3 sets of 12 repetitions of carefully chosen exercises. (Our program is designed by a physio and exercise physiologist)

Each class focuses on three key areas:

  • Hips & Legs
  • Arms & shoulders
  • Core

You might find yourself using equipment such as:

  • Dumbbells
  • Kettlebells
  • The reformer machines
  • TRX suspension straps
  • Loop bands & more

Everything can be modified so you can start exactly where your body is today.

3. Endurance Finish
We finish with short exercises that elevate the heart rate, helping both your muscles and the cardiovascular system.

You leave feeling strong, energised and capable.

And here’s something encouraging:

  • Research shows that even one strength session per weekcan start improving strength.
  • Three sessions per week is even better — but just starting already makes a difference.
  • It’s all about understanding what we build in our 40’s, 50’s and 60’s determines how independently we move in our 80’s.
  • Remember our muscles start losing strength from our 30’s, at an accelerating rate until by our 70s it can be around 1% every year.
